Winter Sessions began on January 7th and includes hands on instruction in digital photography and computer software.  Our students learn professional tools to make a statement- a statement about their lives  and about their communities and their world.  Students are creating a cultural self-portrait that is surrounded by images expressing their own culture.  The imagery created helps all of the students communicate across language barriers and helps create understanding and appreciation of the diversity within our culture.

Our mentors teach the students media and business skills while encouraging their creativity and innovation.  Students and mentors go on weekly location photo shoots capturing both the natural beauty of Oregon as well as city life.

Focus on Youth is partnering with Erin Yanke of KBOO radio to create audio interviews to accompany their photographs for an exhibit on the KBOO website.  We are also partnering with Metro East Cable to produce a thirty minute program featuring our students and their photographs to be aired on February 21, 2011.

Applications are available on our website, or you can call Focus on Youth Director, Donna Lee Holmes 503 341-6878.
